	Over a thousand years ago, when the gods saw fit to create the Castle, they, in their infinite wisdom, recognised the need for discipline in this new domain and, furthermore, the need for a being to enforce it. As such, an enormous egg was created in the caves as the heart of the floating rock on which the Castle is built. 			Draxien assisted, as with every matching season, in setting up the challenges of the trials. This included having knowledge of Rygard's entry as an Unmatched and of the surprise in store at the opening ball.

			All was unfolding according to expectations for him until he received a letter from a fellow demigod, the closest thing he has to a friend, Lady Ammaya - Demigod of Wings, child of Creatures and Creation. The letter stated that she was considering the possibility that the two of them should match this season.

			It threw him into the closest he had ever been to loss of control and self-discipline. He felt suddenly more alone than he had ever felt; he had expected that this divine being, of all creatures, (bar his sister, The Dutchess,) should know that that would be far out of the realm of possibility for him.
