Character
Description
Standing just over 2 metres (6'6") tall and with a chest size measuring the same, swept back fiery red hair and well-groomed and maintained beard, and a permanently stern expression on a face with no hint of mirth or whimsy, Draxien, Demigod of Discipline, Son of Wisdom and Warfare, is one of the oldest demigods alive, having hatched, fully formed as he is now, at the creation of the Castle.
He dresses in perfectly pressed and clean uniform, either military or formalwear, as the situation calls for. Nothing about his attire, demeanour or behaviour could ever be accused of being casual. Even to be around him is to feel the influence that his strict adherence to his purview has on his surroundings; his aura of discipline reminds those close enough that they really ought to sit up a little straighter, tuck in their shirts, and avoid using colloquial language.
Draxien's responsibilities within the Castle include running and maintaining the gladiator arena, tending to, and training the beasts used in the gladiator arena, assisting with enforcement of laws and regulations, and enacting appropriate discipline to offenders.
There are very few beings that could consider themselves close with Draxien, but the few who fall within that category would include Lady Ammaya - Demigod of Wings, child of Creatures and Creation, and his siblings: The Dutchess, Fitzwilliam and Arawand.
Storylines
Background
Over a thousand years ago, when the gods saw fit to create the Castle, they, in their infinite wisdom, recognised the need for discipline in this new domain and, furthermore, the need for a being to enforce it. As such, an enormous egg was created in the caves as the heart of the floating rock on which the Castle is built.
Soon after, the egg hatched and out stepped Draxien - Demigod of Discipline, son of Wisdom and Warfare, just as he is today. He immediately began tending to his duties, the first of which was to carve himself a very orthodox home from the unworked stone of the caves by his egg. He has lived there ever since.
Over the next millennium, Draxien has never once wavered from his responsibilities as both disciplinarian and gladiator general of the Castle.
Castleton Part 1
Draxien assisted, as with every matching season, in setting up the challenges of the trials. This included having knowledge of Rygard's entry as an Unmatched and of the surprise in store at the opening ball.
All was unfolding according to expectations for him until he received a letter from a fellow demigod, the closest thing he has to a friend, Lady Ammaya - Demigod of Wings, child of Creatures and Creation. The letter stated that she was considering the possibility that the two of them should match this season.
It threw him into the closest he had ever been to loss of control and self-discipline. He felt suddenly more alone than he had ever felt; he had expected that this divine being, of all creatures, (bar his sister, The Dutchess,) should know that that would be far out of the realm of possibility for him.
He returned himself to a state of appropriate conduct through self-discipline and turned his attention to the matter of a duel he had to officiate between Lord Gilgamesh Von March III and Count Nubarron Tempest. The duel went without excess need for discipline, except for one instance of interference from the audience, which Draxien dealt with swiftly.
Following the Duel, he met Lady Ammaya for a date, during which they discussed the reasons for his rejection of her request. At this time, they agreed to instead attempt to become closer as friends. In this moment, for the first time in a thousand years, Draxien felt the presence of his mother and Lady Ammaya's directly, as they formed a pleasant, candle-lit dining table between them and provided an unmistakable sign of their blessing on this pairing.
Draxien used this opportunity to confide in Lady Ammaya his concern that a new missive was to be soon enacted declaring a total ban on violence, and he requested her wisdom on ways he might enact discipline of wrongdoers without violence.
