Description

Ursula Mace is the second eldest of the Mace siblings and the last to speak upon meeting. Do not mistake her quietness for shyness - she is anything but that, and quick to say exactly what is on her mind. She is often perceived aloof, but upon speaking, she is polite and proper. Perhaps a bit closed to matters of herself at first, but not unpleasant, especially if one brings up the subject of tea. House Mace only drinks the best tea, and as a tea aficionado she is very opinionated about what qualifies as good enough. Long encouraged to watch over her siblings, she takes her role as protector seriously. So much so that it inspired her to become the twilight cleric she is today. Recently, however, how exactly she defines "protection" has seen a shift from watching her sisters and brother throughout the season. These observations have also started to shift her previously negative perceptions of the matching season towards the more curious.

A pale orchid skinned half orc at about 5'5, Ursula may complain about the superficial niceties of the ton, but cares much for her appearance and secretly enjoys fashion. She would never leave the house looking anything less than perfectly put together. Her long, mid back length ink black hair is always styled carefully, and she is often adorned in the best outfit and accessories for the occasion, especially if there is a theme. Her most common accessories are a regal posture and stoic expression, and the biggest contributors to making her seem "unapproachable". Her bright blue eyes are ever watching, betraying her more resigned expression and hinting to the ever churning mind behind them. As a cleric invested in her martial studies with a knack for sparring, she is athletic with toned limbs and broad shoulders. She will often linger by one of her siblings sides, providing proper "scary dog energy" if she feels it necessary - which is most times.

Storylines

Background

Second of the Mace siblings, Ursula takes her role as family protector very seriously, even in childhood. First it was just her and Ardena, but then Millie and Drestil came along and she happily took it upon herself to be their protectors too. She spent her childhood doing her duties as needed - the one who happily rose early to take care of the family's sheep and do all the duties no one else wanted to, helping her mother in the garden, staying dedicated to her martial studies and the family motto “A merciful Shepard must be prepared to defend the flock”. Perfection was key - even if she was told she did well, she always looked for ways to be better, learn better, perform better. She rarely sought socialization outside of her family, and would often go up to her secret hiding place in the attic to stare out the dusty window and daydream of becoming a powerful, regal, and well admired protector traveling the land with her siblings. Her favorite time to do this was twilight, the passing of day to night, the beauty of being between - it was comforting there.

While she always had an affinity and pickiness for tea, her passion for creating and growing her own did not start until her mother's health started to decline. She would research all she could, attempting to create the most delicious and health boosting blends for her to enjoy. She insisted on no less than two cups a day, one at rise and one before bed, and was always coming up with new ideas to improve taste and health quality. When their mother finally passed away, she sunk back into herself and her duties.

Never one for superficial propriety and a quite sour view of the matching season as a whole, she was quite vocal on how she dreaded having to be a part. But her father's words before leaving home have been echoing through her mind - what does -she- want?

Castleton Part 1

Since arriving, Ursula has been mostly withdrawn, leaving their accommodations only to escort Millie on dates. She did not expect to do much dating of her own, and was quite shocked when Lysander asked her to meet on a double date with Millie. While the exchange was a bit awkward, she found it was not nearly as unpleasant as she had expected.

The siblings have not been able to catch up much, but the last time the sisters were together there was talk of Ardena's intentions and the potential for her to become baroness should her sister marry someone of higher status. While she tried to put the possibility from her mind, more and more of both Ardena's and Millie's actions have caused her to consider it more and more. Could she be baroness? That was never part of the plan, never something she had considered. And then her father's words, asking what she wanted... she had a lot of thinking to do...

Castleton Part 2

While musing over the possibilities of her future, Ursula has been more open to dates and exploring her personal desires. She even graciously accepted a date with Prince Tristian of Cerul. While she figured it was just for niceties and would not amount to much but a polite exchange, she found his demeanor and dutifulness endearing, and had a pleasant time. She was even happy to run into him at the Cloud Ball, amongst the drama of her sisters. After briefly meeting his mother, she accepted a dance with him to attempt to help him get away from the tension of the night, if just for a moment.
